How do I love thee... let me count the ways! When it comes to Valentine's Day, I am all about showing (and not spending on) the people who are special to me that they are loved. Not with big gestures or expensive Hallmark Cards, but with simple and heartfelt acts of kindness that let people know they are special. The crafts, the baking, and of course, the chocolate...here are five simple actions that will make you, your Valentine, and so many people around you feel amazing this Feb. 14! 

Happy New Year! And with that, we're into another year. I don't know about you, but I'm not one for grand New Years resolutions, which may or may not prove successful in a few weeks time. What I do enjoy, though, is to use the New Year as a chance to reflect and re-evaluate, and commit to  improving on the things that were already going well last year. And after a month of using My Kindness Advent Calendar and practicing daily acts of kindness in our home and community, it's of course on my list to keep up with the kindness! The count down is on! With Christmas less than two weeks away, families everywhere are frantically shopping, cleaning, baking, and merry-making in preparation for Christmas. And in some homes, purging too! Trying to make space for all the new things that are coming into our home is a part of our annual Christmas traditions. And while it may take a bit more time and effort, it's important to me to find a way for our "out with the old" toys to find a good new home instead of a one way ticket to the island of misfit toys. With a bit of extra time and energy, going through old toys can make for a wonderful act of kindness and teachable moments with kids. Here are some easy suggestions on what to do with those old toys as you do your Christmas cleaning!
